The Journal: Members receive the Journal of the National Association of Administrative Law Judiciary, which is published semi-annually by Pepperdine University School of Law. The Journal is widely recognized as the finest and most scholarly publication focusing on developments affecting the administrative judiciary.
Annual Educational Conferences: Members receive discounts on registration fees for the conference held in conjunction with the NAALJ annual meeting. The next annual conference will be held October 11, 2010, on the Pepperdine University campus in Malibu, California. Recent conferences were held in Orlando, Florida (2009), New York City (2008), Washington, D.C. (2007), and Seattle, Washington (2006).
Affiliate Challenge Grants: Each NAALJ affiliate may choose a member to attend the annual meeting and conference. The registration fee for the Challenge Grant recipient will be waived, and the recipient will be awarded a check for $500.00 during the conference to help defray expenses. The affiliate is challenged to reimburse the recipient for all or a portion of the remaining expenses.
Mid-Year Seminars: Members receive discounts on fees for mid-year seminars on topics of interest to administrative adjudicators. The next mid-year seminar will be held May 30-June 1, 2010, in Montreal, Canada, in conjunction with the Canadian Council of Administrative Tribunals’ Fifth International Conference. Recent mid-year seminars took place in Little Rock, Arkansas (2009); Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (2008); and Des Moines, Iowa (2006 & 2007).
NAALJ Newsletter: Members receive the NAALJ News, which reports on board, committee, and membership activities and on administrative law topics.
Mediation Training: Members receive discounts on this popular program, offered through the National Judicial College, which is geared specifically to adjudicators in the administrative law field. This training has taken place in locations such as Santa Fe, New Mexico; Atlanta, Georgia; Hunt Valley, Maryland; and Reno, Nevada.
Scholarships: Tuition scholarships are available for NAALJ members to attend courses at the National Judicial College. NAALJ is also a significant contributor to the Arthur A. Gladstone Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Fellowship: The National Administrative Law Judge Foundation (NALJF) is the public interest arm of NAALJ. NALJF endows an annual Fellowship to encourage research and scholarship in the area of administrative law. Each year, the NALJF Fellow writes an article for publication in the NAALJ Journal and delivers a presentation at the annual conference. The Fellow receives a $1,000.00 cash stipend and an all-expenses-paid trip to the conference.
Committees and Sections: Members are encouraged to join one or more of NAALJ’s various committees and sections, both to network with others who hear similar types of cases and to help NAALJ fulfill its mission of improving the quality of administrative adjudication.
